PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR PROFESSIONALS
OVERVIEW
This course will help participants to better understand themselves and the significant people around them as they make important life and career decisions. The course consists of modules, each of which addresses a key concern in personal development such as self-development, mental and emotional health, maintaining relationships, career development, and building a society based on an open mind. Using the experiential learning approach which includes short lectures, small and large group discussions, journaling, etc.; each module invites participants to explore specific themes in their development. Personal reflections, sharing, and lectures help reveal and articulate relevant concepts, theories, and tools in different areas in psychology.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE
By successfully completing this course, participants will be able to:
- conduct a self-exploration and simple disclosure on his/her talents, unique characteristics, habits, and experiences to appreciate his/her unique identity (set of strengths and weaknesses);
- display an awareness of what responsible adulthood means;
- build and maintain healthy relationships in and out of the office;
- recognize the roles and manage the influence of the significant people around them;
- identify one’s potential and what career (or career path) he/she will pursue in the future;
- reflect on virtues such as kindness, compassion, patience, tolerance, equanimity, and apply them on their daily lives, and;
- develop a habit of reflective lifestyle by keeping a journal.
